Do Sponsership websites really work???

hey i have seen alot of ads in magazines for car sponserships and i was wondering if anyone out there has actually sent in an application and if you have gotten any money or free/discounted parts out of it or anything like that?? thanks mainly bc if i ever wanted to try i wouldnt want to waste my time if they dont really do it much ....
