Jet Performance Module Warning
Ok, I got one of the Stage 2 Jet Module (part number 20004s). I installed it, along with the 180 degree thermostat you have to use. I already had the free flow exhaust. Now I was not aware you had to use Premium fuel when you use this item so that was my first let down. I installed it in roughly 30 minutes. Easy install. Very noticeable gain. I would guess almost 20HP. Better shifting too. So the shock of having to pay more for gas died down because I was happy with the gain.
BUT I went from roughly 15-18mpg (all city driving) to around 10-12mpg. I am not over exaggerating. I took it off for a few days and mileage went back up. Put it back on and it shot back down. I knew I would lose some mileage but never expected that much. That combined with the more expensive fuel runs the price of this thing up!!!! So even though I love the gain I am selling it on ebay for $200 (paid $289). This is just a warning to other people out there who might consider getting one. I did call Jet Tech support on this and they asked a few questions about when I had done my last tune up and how the truck ran before I put the module on. In the end all they could say is that there is going to be "some" loss of economy when using this product. I did a tune up not too long ago (full tune up) and my trucks engine only has 24,000 miles on it (swapped out a few months ago from a wrecked Blazer). So my truck is in good mechanical condition. If you plan on getting a module and your truck is in worse condition expect more of a decline in mileage with it. Just my two cents on this product. If I was not on a bidget I would keep it because the gain was very nice. Just could not afford expensive gas and using so much of it.

Re: Jet Performance Module Warning
That sounds like a bummer.
I am a little lost on what one is or what it is supposed to do or does not do. Can you fill us in on it? MT

Re: Jet Performance Module Warning
the jet performance chip is a replacement chip for your computer...... it has different parameters programmed into it to optimize your engine for squeezing more horsies and torque out of your motor. As stated, your gas mileage will suffer............. There are different chips supplying varying degrees of enhancement, from a mild gain, to some big gains............

Re: Jet Performance Module Warning
i went for the hypertech III tuner, and jet tech support warned me about the 180 deg. t-stat, as some blazer/jimmy's don't get warm enough for the ECU and it thinks it's running cold all the time, which he told me would eat more gas. after i explained it's 75-85 deg here 30% of the time and the rst of the year it's 95-99 with 90% humidity, he said the 180 would be ok. my 4.3 runs at 195-205 most of the time on 87 deg day sitting in traffic jam in south florida. also, the electric fan conversion helped that, cause the fans run steady speed instead of slow at idle like stock. i plan on going to seperate oil and tranny coolers as in deep summer here, in traffic, the hump gets so hot i can't lean my right leg on it. replacing the stock exhaust with a flowmaster cat-back helped alot with the heat, but it still gets hot.
in my personal opinion, not an endorcment, the hypertech was a good choice for me, as it can also read, display and clear dtc's, and you can adjust almost everything you want your way or a pre-set performance way. if ya don't like it, you can change it one or two things at a time, without completely changing the whole bannana. i paid the same amount on ebay for the hypertech III as you paid for the plug in. |

Re: Jet Performance Module Warning
all the jet modules do is dump more fuel into the engine to get more power, which explains part of ur MPG drop off. actually in the item description it warns u that u have to use premium with their tuning. part 2 in this disaster duo is that 180 stat. it does not allow the engine to get up to proper opperating temp, the ecu detects this and injects more fuel to try and warm the engine up (eats more gas). switch back to the stock 195 stat. the hypertech PP3 is a better option. its lets u install a performance program for either 87 or 91-93 octane.

Re: Jet Performance Module Warning
If you think that you'll ever race your Blazer you might want to keep it for race days, otherwise get rid of it.
You may as well advertise it on the sales forum. The link is in the FAQ thread |

It does not sound like a very good one for his Blazer. Back to the drawing board for a better one. I would go for one that you can adjust for what you want or just turn it off when not needed. MT

Well you now know they work, so if your planning on running your Blazer down the 1/4 mile track you might just want to talk to 2000blazerls. Or if you'r going to tow a heavy trailer from time to time. The real advantage of a chip is that you can change them in a few short minutes when you need a little extra power, and they don't take up much storage space |

Re: Jet Performance Module Warning
True. It was an easy install/uninstall. If it had an on/off swith like some other chips/programmers have I would have loved it. And for the record, from 0-30 you get nothing (well I did not) but once you pass 30mph and give it gas you REALLY feel it kick in. If you can afford the higher gas prices it is worth it.

Re: Jet Performance Module Warning
Isn't the Stage 2 the more agressive chip for more power?
Maybe the Stage 1 would be more to your liking.

Re: Jet Performance Module Warning
Kind of thought about that too. Just going to sell it and put the money back in the bank.
A friend of mine (owns www.alteredaltitudes.com ) really wants to lift my 2wd Blazer. Found a kit by Pro-Comp. He says he will install it for free if I get the kit. I might do that. I will probably just put the money in the bank and be an adult for once. =)
