99 Plymouth Neon Car is Knocking/ Shaking

Can someone please explain what the problem with my car is? Recently (within the past month) my car has begun to shake. It shakes when Im in drive neutral - everything but park. It is happening more frequently recently and Im nervous as to what it is. My dad said he thinks it might be the lifter, but I wanted a few opinions. The car has oil (actually has been suffering from an oil leak recently as well). I do not have time to take it to the mechanic this week or next. The sound is not a loud sound but more of a knocking movement of the car instead. If there is anything anyone can suggest I would really appreciate it.

Is your check engine light on? If so, do the key dance and read thew codes. If you don't know what the "key dance" is, do a search on this forum and you should find it. How are your RPM's? Do they jump around at idle?

my check engine light was on a while ago- i think it was due to low oil, i was about to get it checked out and it turned off and hasnt gone back on. The RPMs done seem to be a problem when Im idle. its below 1,000 it doesnt jump or anything

The "check engine light" won't come on for low oil. Do the key dance and see what code comes up and then post back.
