First ticket...

Well I got my first ticket a few weeks ago. My car's manifold gasket went bad and it was pretty loud. On top of that I had a cherry bomb turbo. But before the whole gasket problem occured, my muffler wasnt that loud where I could get a ticket. Well I was turning right at this 4 way stop. These 2 cops were turning left. I figured big deal, there not gonna do nothing. WRONG. They pulled a U'y and followed me for bout a mile and a half. Turned the lights on and what now. Cop does the insurance and registration routine. He said my "Muffler" was to loud which I told him it wasnt, and that it was my manifold gasket. He ran all my stuff and came back with a fix ticket, and said if I dont get it fixed it will be $110. Im like alright w/e ill get it fixed. A week later my cars just dies. I guess the computer wet hay wire and needed to be replaced. On top of the computer and manifold gasket it would have been wayyyy over how much the car was actually worth(beater car). So I was SOL. Called the court and asked if there was ANY way to get out or anything. They said there was nothing. So I had to pay stupid fine for a car that doesnt even run anymore. I dont really care though now anyways. Im just parting it out so ill get my money back for it.

Re: First ticket...

sorry to hear you got stuck with the entire fine, but in reality, a $100 ticket with no points is always isn't bad for your first ticket. Good luck with the partout.

Re: First ticket...

I swear, excessive noise attracts the cops more than anything else, other than really stupid driving.

Quiet cars can get away with more speding etc.

Back when I was younger, I cut off plenty of mufflers and put in turbo-cherry bomb-fart cans etc - and got pulled over just because of the noise.

Re: First ticket...

You wanna talk about being super sneaky? Sure, being quiet is important, but what you drive makes a big difference. I've driven sports-type cars my whole life so I'm kinda used to it. The thought of being sneaky made this came to mind, though:

"Benefits of minivan stealth
Gus Mahon, 7/22/99 In the downtown Putnam shopping mall parking lot, lots of kids in flashy looking cars do burnouts, then they *quickly* run and hide as the local police come to check out each and every car there, trying to find "the culprit". I usually avoid burnouts in public lots, but I decided to prove a point.
I pulled up next to Mustangs and Camaros and started talking with the kids. They thought that there was nothing good about a minivan, and they didn't believe that it was quicker than their cars, so I didn't win any points on speed. I told them that "stealth" was good about a minivan. To show them, I pulled off a big smoky burnout across the parking lot, and much to their amazement (as if the burnout wasn't amazing enough) I just stopped and parked right at the end of my own 2 black strips! The cops came and went by me like I didn't exist. There was still smoke in the air. They checked out everybody's car except mine. I was the only one with a hot hood, but they never touched it!

Ahhh, stealth...."

I am STILL looking for a turbo minivan. Been months now...kinda tricky to find.

Its a Lotus Carlton. For a long time it was the fastest four door. Top speed of 180 mph.

Re: First ticket...

The whole stereotype driving thing is way over played. Out of all the cars ive had/driven(00' Mercury Sable, 02' F-150, 96' Grandam, 00' Ranger, 98' Eclipse, 99 Ram, 03' Ram). The only car on that list i havent/wasnt pulled over in was the eclipse, which not gonna lie, is a total ricer car(loud muffler) Given i've only had the 03 hemi for a month and a half so who knows i might get pulled over in it. But if you looked at those cars you would think the Eclipse would be a target because of "the looks"

Based on my personal experience i dont believe in the whole "Based on what you drive you'll get more tickets" theory.

Re: First ticket...

That theory only has partial truth to it, at best. It's not GAURANTEED that a dude in a sports car will get pulled over more than the same dude in a big truck, all under the same circumstances. But it IS partially true. Someone in a minivan will not get looked at as quickly as someone in a bright yellow Corvette...cop's gotta look at the car before he can get a radar or laser speed reading on it...which do you think would get the radar/lidar gun pointed at it first?

That's all it comes down to.
