Unhappy A/C just stopped working and light blinks...

I realize this is similar to other posts however ..........

Parked the car for about 2-3 weeks, everything worked fine. Start driving it again and the A/C doesn't work and the light just blinks a few times and then stays off after being pressed. It blew very cold when it worked so it seems hard to believe all or most of the refrigerant leaked out all of a sudden.....although I suppose it could. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Do you hear any squealing/squeaking or chirping sounds coming from the passenger side, even if only intermittenly?

We had the blinking A/C light thing when on at high fan speeds, then all fan speeds. We assumed refrigerant low, tried to recharge the system, but was already fully charged. Then blinking started happening when fan was running at all, heat/air/AC. About 6 months later our blower fan conked out. We figure the light was flickering because the fan was overheating and the AC compressor would shut off (start light blink) would cool down and run again, until finally didn't run at all. Once we replaced the fan, we didn't notice the light blinking anymore. We're pretty sure that was the problem.

My 99 did the exact same thing at 60,000 miles. I took it right to the dealer and they replaced the the HVAC controls in the dash. They did it inder warrenty so I don't know how much it cost. I have not had a problem since. Just an electrical problem I guess.

Re: A/C just stopped working and light blinks...

I have the same problem with the blinking lights, no squealing or rattling at all. The light on the a/c control will blink 3 times then go out and the a/c doesn't work. The referigerant levels were fine when I checked them (before I found this forum), and had resigned myself to having to replace the climate control in the dash, or the temperature control sensor. I haven't done either yet, because I didn't know wich one to do. Do the 3 blinking lights have any significance? And where can I get these parts other than a stealership?
