Digital clock and 12 volt battary radio wire dead
Ok i put my new head unit in a while ago and today when i was driving my unit died..
i was like what the shit? So i look at the digital clock its dead too.... I get home rip out the consol look behind the head and find that the 12 volt battary wire melted a peice of the harness so i snipped it and stripped it wired everything back up and it still didnt work, So i think about the digital clock not working also so i check all the fuses i could find on the interior fuse box and none were blown, so i got out a voltage detecter and started pluggin around, the main power to the radio and shit still worked fine but the battary wire was dead. So my question is, how do i fix this? Is there like another fuse that runs the 12 volt battary wire for radio memory and im assuming digital clock memory? or how can i fix this its really annorying not havin a clock and always reseting my radio when ever i start the car lol! |

Same thing happened in a friends car, we both aren't very patient so we just ran a wire straight from the battery to radio with a 12 amp (maybe, I cant remember) fuse. If you do that, splice it and run a second wire to the clock. Doesnt completly solve the problem but he hasnt had any problems so it works.

Re: Digital clock and 12 volt battary radio wire dead
Damn i may have to do that, but im gonna have to like take a part the dash and shit with that... there any pre existing fuse lot i can rig this shit into in the interior fuse box? Oh btw do i really gotta rip out the dash or just find a way to pull the gauge cluster?

Rip out the dash to get the clock, no sir. To get your gauge cluster out first pull out both button sets. They put out and unplug. Tehn there are 1 or 2 screw underneath the bezel(That curved piece over the guages.), take them out and pop it off. This will reveal the screw(s) holding the cluster, take them out and unplug the harness's. Also, there is a hole on the passenger side with a grommet plugging it. Its east to find, but if you need a pic let me know. Thats how we got the wire from the batt. inside.

Re: Digital clock and 12 volt battary radio wire dead
Haha i did it, and like never replaced the power to the clock but i managed to break something else... The clock kinda has power, its strange... if u push the little hour, min buttons u can see the numbers faintly...

Check your under-hood fuse box by the battery in the engine compartment. Fuse number 32 is the ECM/Clock/Radio fuse. It is a 7.5 amp blade type fuse.

If his ECM fuse was blown his car wouldn't run. Oh, and don't post in old threads please.
