please help me stop clutch/transmission noise!
I just bought a 1992 S-10 with 4.3L engine and 5-speed transmission. It ran great at first, but after ~150 miles it is making several bad noises:
'whirring' sound when in neutral, clutch engaged. winding sound when accelerating through gears, especially 1-3 The clutch does not seem to be slipping (smooth RPMs with acceleration). With the clutch dis-engaged there is no noise. I've checked the fluid in master cylinder. I have a Hayne's manual, but it has no pictures that match my truck so it is kind of hard to get a grasp of what could be wrong. I'm not that familiar with manual transmissions, so if anyone can tell me what to check for it would help. Thanks, |

Take it to a" quikee-lube" place(or some other shop) and have the lube level checked in the transmission, may be low. Sounds like trans gear/bearing probs though. Maybe the reason the previous owner sold it?
