First Race car for a looooooong time.....

Hey guys, thought I'd kick off a ProMod-Doorslammer project I've been kicking around for quite some time now.....

Seeing as we now look like we may have a contest on our hands, it's great insentive for me to do some work....

I have a 68 Camaro body from Chris @ TopEndMiniatures, waiting in the wings,......but I've decided to have a go at my own body style....
Been dyeing to cut into this 70 Camaro for ages....

So, knife, saw....all at an easy reach.....LETS CHOP.......

So far, the body has been stretched, to gain the maximum length advantage of 114-115", I think, if thats correct....The front end has the standard Z28 style spoiler added, but right at the very front, not under.
The sides of the body have been straightened and the wheel openings have been reshaped.... Still need to add some to the hood, probably just at the rear of it.
The rear deck has been added, and the rear body width pumped out by about 2.5mm on both sides....

Here's a couple of pics to give you an idea....

This chassis probably wont get used, as its only single rail (its from a Pro Stock)..I'll most likely make a new one from brass rod, in the newer style double rail design....

And I'm still deciding on a powerplant......I have this Pro Stock motor sitting around, all it needs is some NOS fitted to it, and it would suit nicely,......but I really want blown power...... ......I'm waiting on some parts a Mate is sending out for me.....If they make it in time...It'll definately be blown....

70 ProMod Camaro

Lets know what you think so far....Still a ways to go....

cheers stump

It'll be ready shortly...

Well, I did acrually get to do some work today...

The body work is coming along..I've added a lip along both sides and almost have the wheelarches smoothed out.. The rear deck is also nearing completion, just needs the side plates to make it look like a wing.

And the entire underside of the rear wing area has been removed (thats all the old bodywork...) It still needs some sanding to finish it off...but the large tyres fit easy now.....

And........I started on the chassis/cage assembly.....Started with the two bottom bars, rear bar and the centre bar, which will support the Lenco 4-speed trannie.....

I have all the major bars in now, need to add the second centre rails and all the extra bracing.....

This underside shot shows the cage is nice and neat, up close to the roof....The tape is just holding it in place...

And the powerplant (BLOWN.. ) will probably be my spare block on the right....The other one has seen time running the quarter in a slot car,.....and parts of the gearbox and sump were modified to fit its old chassis....So I'll fit the newer one.....

Anyway... if you would...please.

70 Camaro ProMod progress

Should be more soon guys, thanks.

cheers stump
