Question GTI VR6 Electrical Problem

I have a 1997 MK3 Golf GTI with the VR6 2.8l. I recently had the clutch and flywheel replaced and am now having a problem with the charging system. Had the battery and alternator checked out and they are in good working order but for some reason there is no charge getting to the battery. Have gone through the wiring diagrams in my Chilton manual with no avail. Anyone have any suggestions? No one in my area will really even mess with VWs(closest shop that will touch it is about 75 mi away).

There should be a large ground strap goint to one of the top transmission bolts. Someone might have forgot to intstall it ( bolts to the bolt itsself)
