Interior price question.....
Just on a rough price scale, how much do you guys think getting my whole interior redone would cost?
I want to recover the seats in black (MAYBE synthetic) leather, new black head liner, new black dash (or I MIGHT just paint it black), new black carpet, new front/rear floormats, new steering wheel (black) door panels (black), all panels BLACK...I just want that cool light color exterior, dark color interior....and black is classic anyways. I think I will break up the color with white accents (little pin stripes around the air venst and door handles etc.) Just a ROUGH estimate please guys, anything you think. Oh, and one more question, how well does interior paint stand up to UV damage and heat? Also, how does it look, does it fade, does it look like crappy ass spray paint? Should I use primer, etc. etc. Thanks alot guys. |

Re: Interior price question.....
good question. i know the factory carpet is $189, i just asked the dealership yesterday. the reapolistry of the front,& rear seats are roughly $800 (thats what it cost me to do on a 2003 isuzu Axiom). that price was a kit that was already available, so it will depend on the place you get it done, and their availability. custom leather is expensive. last month there was a thread on here about some cool products that 96spyderman found, i was intrested in seeing what the color changing leather would cost me to have it installed in my 96gsx. after talking to a custom restoration shop here in town he gave me a quote of $2200 becasue they would have to order the leather in bolk and cut to fit. there were no kits available, yet. he did tell me there were red/silver/white carbon fiber leather kits for our eclipse that would cost only $1400.
like to the that thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=393219 here is the leather that i had priced out at tims shop. the shop that i had it priced at has done many, many, special hot rods and the home of the 32 Lincoln Zephyr three-window coupe creation that sold for $432,000 at Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale auction, held on Jan. 22-25, 2004! http://www.alsacorp.com/products/fab...leath_show.htm they took 2 weeks researching the fabrics quality, production and even flew one of their guys to vermon califonia to check it out. they told me they were extreamly impressed and are starting a business acount with them because of how impressed they were. i have no idea what a steering wheel would cost, aftermaket woud be ideal. it would jaz it up a bit. floor mats are never the same as the day they came with the car, your better off going aftermarket on those too. to paint the vinal dash, trim and panels would cost you only as much as the supplys if you do the labor yourself. a guy down the street from my house does custom body/restoration out of his garage as a full time job. he told me he'd clean/prime/paint, & clearcoat my interior for $300 + supplys. the headliner, i have no idea. though i've seen carbon fibor eclipse headliners for $300 online. im sure its much less expensive for normal carpet. i did run across a couple of threads about this while looking for that thread.

Hey, thanks man. Helped alot...
One thing about the interior painting though...how does clear coat look? I think a shiny dash may not look too good. Maybe it would though..I don't know. |

Re: Interior price question.....
shinier the better. bling bling. same thing as fiberglassing the interior. without clearcoating the paint will chip/peal/fade.
