Re: Progress: Mazda RX-8
why not white with cf bonnet wing?
would look better than the whole thing being black imo

Re: Progress: Mazda RX-8
yo, updates =)
its redicolous how much you can do in just a hour or two. check this out, with flash on the cam you can see grey panel lines of some reason =) thanks for the posts guys, that keeps me motivated to work on this beauty. thats it for today, need to buy car wax tomorrow hopefully and ill see you then! PS. GOD BLESS TAMIYA SPRAY PAINTS FOR BEING SO USER FRIENDLY, in comparance to the stinky testors spray that is runny as water and never dries totally! thats all =) |

Re: Progress: Mazda RX-8
I used Tamiya gun-metal one time and that had a hard time going into the panel lines.

Re: Progress: Mazda RX-8
I have found that primer helps the paint go into panel lines. Not totally but alot better than without primer.

Re: Progress: Mazda RX-8
when you have "hard time" to get paint in panel line, it's becose you make your coat of paint too tick at first...

Re: Progress: Mazda RX-8
primer + patience and slow spraying + pre-heating the can of paint = panel lines and every nook and cranny covered in paint.

Re: Progress: Mazda RX-8
You needed to do a few light mist coats first to allow the paint to stick to the primer and the panel lines. Then add a few "heavy" coats after it has dried.

Re: Progress: Mazda RX-8
nice progress, i think fujimi's quality on this kit is poor. At least it came with chrome lights unlike most of their kits!!!

Re: Progress: Mazda RX-8
Hey Zlaja!
Keep up the pace and show us some more nice progress soon. Don't rush the polishing and waxing, let the paint sit for a while so it doesn't mess up for you. As already stated, build up the color coats slowly with some mist coats first and then follow up with wet coats and you will be just fine. But I understand you, I've been modeling for over 30 years now and I'm still impatience some times. Always messing up when I can't hold my temper and rush on with the next step :-D Niclas |
