I got this from a website a while back and printed it out and kept a copy. This may work..may not...but it beats giving the dealership $60+ bucks to do a 5 minute job.

Go under the hood and open the diagnostic cap located on the passenger-side near the firewall. Look for AB & TC. Make two plugs with wire that will fit into these connectors. So now you should have a wire attached to the AB connector and another wire attached to the TC connector. The wire for each connector needs to be able to reach to the battery. With the ignition key turned to the ON position, ALTERNATE the two wires to the NEGATIVE TERMINAL OF THE BATTERY. They need to be done in a consistent rhythm, about one second apart. TC, AB, TC, AB,...
This needs to be done several times. If you can't get it to work, try adjusting the speed. It is helpful to have someone look at the airbag light while performing this to let you know when the light goes out/blink.
Hope this helps!!

Re: Re: airbag light on/RESET the airbag light

You have to access one of the DLC (diagnostic link check) connectors. DLC 2 is under driver’s side dash. With ignition on, apply ground to tc for 1 sec, remove grd from tc apply to ab for one sec. Do this twice and finally leave tc grounded. SRS lamp will blink very fast for a few seconds then will go off. Make sure you map out pins before you start, timing is critical, all one-second intervals are +/- .5 sec.

You're also supposed to have your airbag checked after the first ten years of service then every couple of years after that ( see the label on the other side of your sunvisor if it's still there) by an authorized Toyota dealer. A couple of years ago, I called ahead and asked if there was a charge for this "mandate" from Toyota and they said no charge. I took the car to them and they then wanted $75 to check the airbags. I told them what I thought and drove away in disgust and never did have the bags checked. Wish I had.
