Computer need replaced?

Hey all! I'm new here and do not have much automotive experience, but I'm here to learn!

I recently bought an 85 318i E30(I believe). But it has a slight problem with the idle system. When the car is cold, I have to floor the gas to get it to start. I tracked it to the IAC motor, replaced it, but still had the same problem. I did a voltometer test and found that when the electrical circuit feeding the IAC motor comes under a load (i.e. gets a ground), the whole circuit shorts. Does this mean that I have to replace the whole comp in the glove box?

I did buy this car as a fixer. The thing's a beaut. Right now I am just getting the motor fixed, next comes a paint job. I was thinking about black. Then I'm going to rip out the whole interior and replace it with gray. Also, the sunroof is crooked so I had to silicone the thing shut for the winter :'( Can't wait for the summer so I can take it off and lay new track so I can "breeze" around town!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Etienne
