Is it really worth it?

I'm currently driving a 1995 Civic EX that's had quite a few problems so far. The rear wells were rusting (which I got sanded out/fiberglassed), it's got problems with the sunroof and some other interior electronics (heater icons don't light, etc)..

The biggest thing is that the body might be twisted just slightly due to a wreck..

Is it worth it to invest a lot of money in something that could have some serious problems later? There's a chance it won't but would any of you do it?

My other option is that I'm hopefully getting a well paying internship this summer, and if I sold my civic I might be able to upgrade to something nicer.. perhaps and integra GSR or Eclipse GS/T/X.

Thoughts?

Re: Is it really worth it?

I'd find out if the body is twisted or not first. If it is, then sell the thing (be honest to the buyer though) and get something better. No point in pumping a ton of $ in something that isn't going to drive right.

Well I know for sure that the roof is twisted at least the tiniest bit, because we put in the money to get a new moonroof motor and still found out that the moonroof only opens to about 80% open.. the shop that did it told us that it's because the track is misaligned the tiniest bit because the roof is a little out of place.

Re: Is it really worth it?

The new eclipse is shit. Go with the last generation eclipse, or an 98-01 integra.

Yes, that is pretty much why I called them shit. The last generation of Eclipse was great, and great looking. The new ones, egh. Integra's are great if thats what you like.

By all means, get what you want, but if an opinion is what your looking for, get the last body style eclipse.

Again, yes. I do not know anything about them. My opinion, there shit. I do like the older ones though.

Re: Is it really worth it?

nope, don't know a whole lot about them. As to why I'm not going to sit here and say whether they are or not. It's amazing how ignorant people are.

The last gen Eclispe (which was the current gen until the soon to be released re-designing, which also has no turbo option) didn't come with a option for a factory turbo'd car, meaning no 4G63 motor and turbo like the GST or GSX had...also they didn't come with the AWD option, like the earler years had in the GSX trim line...

the 2nd the last gens (the last gen DSM Eclispes and Talons) had what is refered to as a 7-bolt head. Their motor (4G63) could stuffer crankwalk at higher boost levels, a bad thing...it is kind of hit or miss...The ealier DSM's (Eslipses, Talons, etc) also had an option for an AWD model, and also could come with a 4G63 motor and a turbo. These ones had a 6 bolt head. They generally don't suffr crankwalk, so thats not a worry or a problem. Some think they don't look as good, however. The GST and GSX are the Eclispes turbo'd models (GST =2wd, GSX = AWD) The Talon TSi I believe is the turbo'd Talon model.

In case you didn't realize, DSM stands for Diamond Star Motors, since the Eclipse, Talon, and Plymouth Lazer were all basically the same car, designed in collaberation by Chylser and Mitsubishi. There were some other DSM's, but the commenly know ones are the Eclipses, Talons, Lazers etc. The N/A DSM Eclipses have what is basically a Neon engine, the Turbo'd ones have a 4G63. As I said, first gen is a 6bolt head, 2nd is a 7bolt head. 7 bolt heads can suffer crankwalk, and it's kinda hit or miss.
