Skyline questions (again...)
Heya guys and gals....I wanted to say hi to all of you first...and also maybe ask some newbie questions if I may. I had an idea the other day. I was wondering if I could turn a 1999 Skyline GT25 FOUR into a Skyline GTR non-Vspec? From all the research that I've been able to find it seems like I would be able to. The diffrences that are obvious to me are,
1) Engine 2) Transmission 3) Body styling (Front and Rear Bumpers, Side Skirts, Wing) 4) Possibly not having interior components as GTR ( Nav. Screen) 5) Rims and Tires 6) Suspension From pictues that I have seen, it looks like they have the same body. And I know the GTR has the ATTESA-ETS four wheel system, and the V-Spec has the ATTESA-ETS Pro, but I can't find any info on the GT25 FOUR, 4WD system. Besides the 4WD system being different, everything else seems as though it would be bolt on. If anybody can point out what I've missed I would really appreciated it! Thanx for your time |

Hey bro, it seems this question is popping up all over. I'm sorry to tell you but the answer is no, you can't turn a GT24 4 into a GTR. I'm not sure if the 4 has AWD or 4wd but I think it has 4wd (correct me if I'm wrong). ATTESSA ETS and PRO act like RWD vehicles untill one of the rear wheels starts to spin, then it can split torque 50/50 to any one of the front wheels. Wheelspin, Lateral Acceleration, and G Forces are monitored 10 times a second by the ATTESSA computer. In the R34s the linkage is an electronic link, in the 32 and 33s it is viscious coupeling. Also you woul dhave to do work on the wheelwells as the GTRs have pumped guards to house the bigger tyres. Now if you did go through the trouble to upgrade to a Nismo Suspension, Drop a RB26DETT in there, a Getrag 6spd, do some work on the drive train to handle the power, put new tyres on it, new IC, and the works. You WOULD have a very quick car that handles well, but it would not be a GTR. So I say if you want to, go for it, but please don't call it a GTR, only godzilla can have that badge

the GTS4s share the ATTESSA system with the GTRs. Have a look at www.advan.co.nz - their demo GTR began life as a GTS4, until they grafted on GTR body parts, and stuck in a 700hp (or something) RB26DETT (and interior stuff and whatever else, I'm sure...dunno everything they did) . Some people will argue endlessly about whether it's a GTR or not, but in the end it doesn't really matter, IMO.
