First kill in the Sebring.

1998 Chrysler Sebring LXi vs. 70s Chevy Truck.

In all honesty I was expecting this to be a death. My Sebring looks kind of fast, but it isn't. It doesn't have a good deal of low end grunt but it has pretty descent top end. I don’t think I told anyone but I did sell of my Vision for the Sebring. Let’s just say the Vision wasn’t a Clint kind of car.

Anyhow, I'm sitting at a light in American Fork last weekend on my way to Checker to buy some oil and filter to change my oil. Up next to me pulls a couple of guys in the truck. They are looking at me for some reason and the passenger has a smug look on his face. It sounded like a healthy V8 under the hood, my guess was a 350. He had a nice exhaust coming out the back and the truck looked like it was in pretty damn good shape for its age. They begin to creep forward and revving the engine. So I knew a race was on if I wanted it or not. I hadn’t seen any action for a long time so I decide to bite. I wasn't confident with the car and thought that he would tear me out of the hole since I’ve never really raced it yet. The light turned green and I floored it. He did the same and to my surprise I was walking away from him at a steady pace. Checker is about 1/4 mile away from the light and by the time I had to hit my brakes for to turn in I had about four car lengths on him. He went roaring by and didn't even look over.

At least he didn't do a ricer flyby or give me the finger. Also, I like the fact that he at least let me know his intentions of racing before the light turned green. I don't get that a lot around here. Usually I find out it’s a race as they're tearing ass off line.

Perhaps this car is worth doing a little work to.

Don't those have the same engines as the Avenger?

Thanks!

The Sebring and the Avenger were the exact same cars until the 2000 model year. My Sebring has the 2.5L DOHC V6.

Well you can get a stick in the Avenger but not the Sebring. So, yes it's an auto.

You can't get a convertible avenger though which evens the two cars up :P

Only the I4 came manual in the avenger... which is pretty dumb
Oh well, I still want one
