I have some rust issues with my passenger door around the door handle. Today I poked it with my key and it went through the outer skin so it's time to consider a replacement door.
94 XJ Sport 2-Door My question is two-fold. What years are compatable for the doors on the XJ and does anyone know where I could get a Pass. Door off a 2-door. My preference would be a black door since I would not have to paint it! The only condition at this point is free of rust as this is the reason I need a new door! The drivers door is solid. must have got a scrape near the handle or when the body shop made a small repair many moons ago they let rust start under the handle...in any case the handle may not stay on for long now that the cancer has become terminal!

Re: XJ Door compatability
Thanks! I found a rust free door from an 87 2-door near home for 45 bucks including everything...handle, glass, door panel, etc. I just need to swap my stuff into it (handle, panel, lock, mirror) and get it painted black and it will be ready for the one trim piece on the exterior.
Has anyone removed or glued one of these exterior strips back on? What did you use? Has anyone wanted to replace those !@#$% door hinge bolts with real bolts? :-)

My last Jeep (87 2 dr) was chewing through hinge pins too fast... I opted to pull the hinges, drill them out and drop in removable pins. use lots of anti-sieze or install grease fittings.

Re: XJ Door compatability
I also replaced the hinge pins on my 94 XJ drivers door...used a new sleave and pin kit. The pin snapped when the door was yanked out of my hands in high winds and slung open...funny thing was I had driven an hour through a noreaster blizzard only to get stuck in the parking lot of my destination and then to open the door and have the pin break!
I still have to replace that passenger side door...gotta get that blue sticker crap off first and get it painted. If I don't get it done soon it may go with the Jeep when I sell it in Jan/Feb time frame. Great engine, just too much rust from the road salt in the northeast...you know thats true when the shop asks if you stored your jeep under water! :-)
