I recently replaced the V6 in my 98 Passport (Big Surprise) and ever since the steering has been VERY hard. I tried to bleed the PS pump with a gillion lock to lock turns, with no luck. Am I missing something or does the pump need replaced??? If so, is it a driveway capapble job?
The steering was fine prior to the replacement, and yes, the belt is fine.
This is my second Isuzu "Rodeo". The first was a 93 with a terminal O2 sensor problem. I replace the O2 sensor 18 times in 2 years. It had been to 7 Isuzu dealers as well as lent to the Regional Isuzu tech for a month+. So what did I do? I traded it in on a 98 Honda Passport.
The Passport has been only slightly better. 1 QT/1000 miles, every squeek known to man, failing wiper motors, wiper linkages, water pump, head gaskets, CD player just quit, on and on and on...
So, if you are thinking of buying a Rodeo/Passport, first go to your bathroom and check your shower rod to see if it will support your weight---you will surely be looking for somewhere to hang yourself before long......
