96 TA overheating
A couple days ago i was getting in my car and i started it and i noticed the low coolant light was on. so i got out and checked my coolant level and it was good. when i got back in and started the car again, the light was off. just to be safe, i drove to the parts store and bought some coolant. when i popped the hood, i noticed a small pin sized leak on the raidator. it now has 140000 miles and i guess its life expectancy is 0 now, but i figured id try to plug it using some of the stuff the auto place sold, the stuff you just pour in the radiator and it will fix it. after i did that, when i left the parts store, the car started to overheat. i went back to the store, and they thought it might be the thermostat. so i put a new one in right there in the parking lot, let the car cool, and i drove away. but it still overheated. i finally had to drive a couple miles down the road to a dealer to get it checked out. when it first started overheating, it would only do it when i was stopped, but on the way to the dealer the temp just kept on rising, it was at redline when i pulled in. before i decided to leave for the dealer, i took out the thermo to see if it would help. no luck. if anyone has any ideas please help. im planning on replacing the radiator in a couple days, and i wanna know if i should replace the water pump as well.
