Where is the fuel filter?
1995 240, how would I go about trying to locate the fuel filter on this car? Problems with either the filter or pump. During low rpms (mostly in first or second gear) or when I first apply pressure towards the gas, it's jumping a little or bogging. But does not happen when revving the engine up in nuetral.
Any comments appreciated. thanks |

You would open the hood and look to the left of your engine where there is a grey conical looking thing with a fuel line coming out of the top of it. It sounds like you're on the right track to fixing your problem. I replaced mine with a 300zxTT filter and it fixed all hesitation and bogging. http://www.240sx.org/faq/articles/fu...eplacement.htm

Way to lend a hand Yeah man, left side of the engine bay, in between the intake manifold and the fender well, attached to the fenderwell by a big clip. It just pops in and out once the fuel lines are disconnected. *TIP: After you get it changed out, turn your car all the way on, but without starting it. Let it sit for 10-15 sec. then turn it off. Repeat that once or twice, then start the car. I recommend some revving of the motor once it's started to keep the car from sputtering and dying (from lack of fuel in the lines). Enjoy your added horse power and gas milage. |

Re: Where is the fuel filter?
just upgraded my fuel filter today to the 300 zx. if you look in your engine there should be a big silver block that says ecc... its just to the passenger side of that, little can with a hose coming out of the top. i can already notice a difference in performance.

Re: Where is the fuel filter?
What the fuel filter you put in should look like This is pictured upside down. Look for SOMETHING that looks like this that, looking into the engine bay from the front, is located directly to the left of the engine. It'll have a hose coming into the black bottom and a hose coming out of the metallic top.
on the topic of fuel filters, thanx for those great installation instructions you gave, j spec. i changed mine to a 300zx and it was a really painless procedure (cept gettin gas all over my hands). so far no problems except i think the mixture runs a little rich so the engine idles sometimes at startup at over 1000 revs. i think i'm just imagining a diff in performance tho. |

you guys are great.
THanks to everyone who helped me out on this project. I got micro and detailed instruction about my fuel filter (even a picture), but that still did not repair the problem.
I put in a 300zx filter and the power and efficiency was obvious. there is still a delay at times when the gas is given. especially in the beginning of first and second gear.Could this be a catylitic converter stoppage or a fuel pump problem? Maybe new plugs and wires? thanks, |

Glad I could help you guys. If you're still hesitating, then I would suggest making better grounds for your engine and all other major grounds...Also check your ECU for trouble codes. The FAQ section on 240sx.org seems to be down at the moment, but when it gets back up it gives a good explanation on how to do it.

Re: Where is the fuel filter?
yeah, if i were you, id do plugs, wires, rotor, and distributer cap. all those help with power and effiency, and should help your problem. id say about 20 bucks total for all that. get some nice big wires too, if they ask you which size you want, go with the bigger one, its worth it. get high quality plugs too, im not sure of some brands, but ask, and they should tell you

NGK 4 Life, yo. Your car was designed to run on them. They can be hard to find, but are well worth the search. Try Kragen Autoparts. If you can't find them ANYWHERE, then settle for Bosch Platinums.

Re: Where is the fuel filter?
j spec your knowledge of 240 is far exceeds mine, but may I suggest not using borsch platinum’s "especially 4+" 2 they caused my engine (KA) to idle very ruff. My idle did not drop below 2000 rpm, but when i changed them out to ngk regular plugs the car ran normal again... may be it is just my car. Now I have ngk iridium in the (SR) and no problems so far!
