d15b swap ??

I know, I know!! If you are going to swap...make it worthwhile but I have a line on a d15b SOHC Vtec from a 93 civic for a steal... I really cant afford to do a b16 swap. I just bought a 5 speed 91 lx tranny to replace my 4 speed... and I have been dealing with my 60hp STD for long enough so ANY increase in HP will help.

Question- Will the d15b motor drop right in without much modification? Are the mounts different? And will my tranny bolt up? I am limited in the funds dept so I just wanted to find out how big of a project it will be and what I will have to change.

Thanks!

Man, you can get an A6 from somewhere for like no more than $200..

Ya, it will swap in fine but I TOTALLY don't understand why bother..

really? Will the a6 drop in without too much trouble? Where can I get one that cheap? And what kind of hp does it put out?

Thanks!

It bolts to your tranny rite up with no problems. Its just like swapping the v-tec. Go to www.fourthgenhatch.com on the how to section for the wiring part. I'm guessing you are getting the vx motor? Someone fill in the rest cause i'm in a hurry!

depends on if its the sohc vtec-e out of a VX hatch or a JDM d15b sohc vtec. The vx engine only puts out 92 while the jdm d15b sohc vtec puts out 125-130 just like a z6

Yeah this is the jdm d15b sohc vtec, that is why I thought it would be a good alternative. (almost double what my car puts out now)

But my main concern was if it will drop in without modifying too many things and if it will bolt up to my 91 lx 5 speed tranny.

I did not see specs for the a6 engine on that site. ??

Which motor would be the easiest swap:

this jdm d15b sohc vtec or the a6??

Thanks!

easiest is a6. its 108hp. The d15b you'd have to wire in vtec.

Yeah, I didnt think about that (vtec) that could drive up the cost.

But it will bolt up to the tranny no problem? any mounts to change?

Thanks (sorry for the 100 questions...just anxious to buy something while I have the money....finally)

tranny will bolt up. You use the drivers side mount bracket from your car.

Great! Thanks all,

1 more question and I am out.

Does the a6 come with mpfi? Or will I have to worry about that as well?

if you buy a complete engine the stock a6 comes with mpfi, so you would have to wire that up

Awesome, definately a must have.... I was thinking about swapping MPFI onto my car as is (and I'm sure it would make a huge difference)

But my motor has 185,000 on it so I figured I should look into replacing the motor before I go through the MPFI swap and have the motor blow.

Now I just have to find a complete a6!!
