C5 Monoposto / Speedster
This was the donor car for a previous project and it gave up its LS engine, drivetrain and suspension. It is also the model I used to fit the decals for the '98 Pace Car decals for Revell kit to and I didn't put it back in the box properly back then so one of the A pillars was bent from being stored like that for 22 years. (Part of why it was a donor…) Repairable? Easily, but this should be more fun.
The first step was to make a hard tonneau cover for the right side. Sheet plastic was cut and formed to fit. ![]() The sculpted part of the convertible cover on the Corvette body was smoothed out and a fairing was added on the driver's side. Some panel lines were filled and part of the trunk line was relocated. I wanted to keep the passenger side door lines. ![]() The A pillars were cut down to match the reshaped windshield and the wipers were removed from the cowl. ![]() ![]() |

Re: C5 Monoposto / Speedster
Thanks Potsie!
I think I found the right wheel, tires and stance for it… |

Re: C5 Monoposto / Speedster
Reworked the interior/chassis parts to accept the new wheels & tires and to hide what's missing on the underside.

Re: C5 Monoposto / Speedster
Started on the rear spoiler. I made it too long so it could be shaped to fit the car; still more to do…

Re: C5 Monoposto / Speedster
I think the windshield from the Callaway corvette speedster would've looked pretty good here.

Re: C5 Monoposto / Speedster
No need to sacrifice another kit. Plus I already have the Calloway in my finished collection and I'm making something different.
Since all the interior parts (except the door panels and tub) were used elsewhere, I started to fabricate the front of the console and a receiver for the steering column and dash. ![]() I might take a little more off the back, or not… ![]() Gotta finish both sides. It's made up of five pieces. |

Re: C5 Monoposto / Speedster
More work on the dash and console. I cut down an RX-7 seat to make a jump seat; the driver gets a racing seat.

Re: C5 Monoposto / Speedster
The interior is mostly blocked from view, so I only detailed what could be seen.

Re: C5 Monoposto / Speedster
I machined a fuel cap from aluminum and made the hole for it in the headrest from brass.
