A/C-Drivers side blows hot and the other blows cold-no zones
Just curious, Anybody ever have their car blow cold on one side and not the other? Mine blows cold and in normal time on the passenger side, but it blows hot on the drivers side. It will eventually blow cool on the driverside, but not cold. Any ideas?

Could be that the actuators if are vacum driven have leaks. Check the vents actuatrors to see what the heck is going on with them. If they are vacum driven then check for leaks

Check for a crack hose by the battery or under.
Both of my gp's had the same problem. |

AC not totally cold
My AC in my 1999 Grand Prix seems to be having the same problem. It blows cold to the right of the drivers side right away, but then takes awhile for the left vents to get ice cold like the rest. I think it might just be low on freon. If someone knows anything more, please let me know

Driver side A/C blows warm, Pass Side Cold
Hope this helps.
Not too long ago my 99 Regal GSX suffered this same problem, I went to the dealership to have the Actuators in the A/C checked, needless to say the dealership kept my car for over 2 hrs, could not determine the problem and charged me for their incompetence. Just so happens I have a friend who is an A/C Tech at a Caddy Dealership a few towns over, he told me this happens occasionally with the Devilles and El-dogs. Check your fittings, minor freon leakage could lead to an improper R134 level which can cause this issue, as was the case with mine, the low side A/C shrader valve was leaking ever so lightly, but leaks can come from several places not just limited to valves, ie the compressor o-rings, I changed the valve, had the A/C sucked down, and added proper amounts of PAG oil and fresh R134, system works beautifully. Maybe you have the same problem... 99GSX "One Qwik 6" |

Re: A/C-Drivers side blows hot and the other blows cold-no zones
97-up gp's have electric mode and temp actuators, and if you have dualzone a/c, I would say that the temp actuator for the drivers side is getting weak, and slow to respond to temp changes.

Hey everyone,
I SOLVED THIS PROBLEM IN MY 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix. In my car, the driver's side was only blowing like normal temperature air (not HOT and not COLD, while the passenger side was ice cold. So, I read so many postings on a zillion websites, watched youtube videos, and thought for sure the problem was the actuator on the driver's side. If you don't know what the actuator is, it basically controls whether to open the 'hot air' or 'cold air' into that side of the vents. Google search it, or youtube it, and you'll learn about it. I figured it must be kinda left open or something. Anyways, I replaced the driver's side actuator, which was a NIGHTMARE to get to....but anyways, I did it, and it did NOT solve the problem. Bottom line, I decided to buy a can of AC Pro to recharge the system. The can, with the gauge and hose was like $40. Honestly, I didn't think it'd work. I pretty much figured that since the passenger side vents blew ICE COLD, the whole system should be fine, and something else has to be not allowing the cold air to blow out the driver's side....I thought maybe the temperature controls or something weren't working. But..................... IT WORKED!!! The driver's side vents are ICE COLD again!!!! Amazing! Anyways, that was my fix. Maybe it'll work for you. |
