Can someone please tell me where to start...
These may not be connected, but the kia has been: rough idling, shutting off when i slow down to stop, hard to start (you have to keep giving it gas) and the worst of all- when going a constant speed, it loses rpm's and you have to give it more gas. Sometimes it does this over and over, which makes for a very bumpy ride. I'm terrible at explaining these things, so here are the codes i got: P0122: APP/TPP Sensor Switch Low Input-Circuit A P1309: Chasis Acceleration Sensor Signal High P1624: MIL Rewuest Signal From TCM to ECM P0101: Mass Air Flow or Volum Air Flow Circuit Range/ Performance problem I have no idea what any of these mean. We just had a full tune up done and replaced the throttle position sensor. Please help me! |

Re: Hold Blinks, CEL on, codes: P0122, P1309, P1624, P0101 PLEASE HELP!!
Blinking HOLD just tells a code has been sent...
More details about codes below. My first suspicion would be about the throttle position sensor: this is a variable resistor that can get shorted(wiring), cut (internal) or dirty (looses contact). It has all chances to cause the driving problems you describe. It can be tested with an ohmeter : reading between two contacts will provide a continuously variable resistance value as you depress throttle. It it has cuts, misses or jumps, it must be replaced. Bad operation contradicts MAF information hence both codes. The code about acceleration sensor has no consequence on engine operation...but a faulty g sensor would make me worry about accidental air bag deployment....may be this is inhibited by some other cross check...but verify contacts and witing. 122 Throttle Position Snesor Threshold Value ~ Throttle valve angle < 2.8° Enable Conditions ~ Engine speed > 720 RPM Time Requirements ~ Continuous MIL Illumination ~ 2 driving cycles Related Items Short to GND between Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) C144-3 and (ECM) C211-73. Open or short to GND between (TPS) C144-2 and (ECM) C211-59. Short to GND between (ECM) C211-59 and Chassis Acceleration Sensor (CAS) or Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor (FTPS). Faulty TPS, CAS or FTPS. P0101 Mass air flow circuit range/performance problem Threshold Value ~ Ratio of load value calculated by MAFS and TPS > 1.215 ms or < -2.625 ms. Enable Conditions ~ Engine speed >1320 RPM Coolant temperature > 140°F Time Requirements ~ 5 seconds (continuous) MIL Illumination ~ 1 driving cycle Related Items Dirty air cleaner. Oil Cap or Dipstick missing or not installed correctly. Air leak in intake system. Contaminated, deteriorated or damaged MAFS. Faulty MAFS or Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Poor connection(s) (or high resistance in wiring) between ECM and MAFS or TPS. P1307, P01308 & P01309 Chassis acceleration sensor signal malfunction, low input and high input Threshold Value ~ P1307 ~ Sensor signal amplitude: >0.34 gravity P1308 ~ Sensor signal mean value:< -2.49 gravity P1309 ~ Sensor signal mean value: >2.49 gravity Enable Conditions ~ P1307 ~ Time after vehicle has come to stop: >15 seconds Time Requirements ~ Continuous MIL Illumination ~ 2 driving cycles Related Items Open between Chassis Acceleration Sensor (CAS) and ECM. Short to B+ or GND between CAS and ECM. Faulty CAS. If a P0501 and/or P1500 code (or pending code) is present, do ALL repairs relating to that code before proceeding with this troubleshooting tree. P1624 MIL request signal from TCM to ECM Related Items This is only a request from TCM to ECM to turn the MIL on. The fault code is stored in the TCM. The Freeze Frame Data is stored in the ECM under the P1624 request code. Be sure to retrieve freeze frame data before clearing code P1624 from ECM.

thanks for your help!
we just had the throttle position sensor replaced. It still acted up afterwords... where would you recommend checking next? |

Cleaning the Idle Air COntrol valve is reported as clearing a lot of rough idle/stalling/hard starting problems.
Just remove the 2 screws and clean with valsol, gaz or carb cleaner.

Re: Hold Blinks, CEL on, codes: P0122, P1309, P1624, P0101 PLEASE HELP!!
Hi all,
I am new to this forum and I was looking for a solution to my Kia Sportage 2001 problem with P0122 when I saw this post. I have to admit I am totally illiterate when it comes to auto. Could any of you be so kind as to point out where is the location of the Throttle Position Sensor/TPS and also the Idle Air Control valve? Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks again |

Re: Hold Blinks, CEL on, codes: P0122, P1309, P1624, P0101 PLEASE HELP!!
None of the above Guess Solutions will help with this. This problem is do to a recall for 1996-1999 kia sportages.
There is a intermittent connection ppoblem in connectors C123 and C124. This two connectors are located above the starter, below the Lower intake. These two connectors send a 5Volt Ref signal to the TPS, MAF, Chassis Accel sensor,EVAP pressure sensor, etc. This Problem normally causes codes P0122, P1309, P0452, P0101, and occasionaly others. These connectors must be unhooked, cleaned, inspected, modified, and a New Type spring retainer clip is put on them to hold them together. This occurs with late 99-02 sportages as well, though they are not covered under the recall, and will have to be paid out of pocket, or like me, repaired on your own. |
