Buick 93 LeSabre Failed Emmision Inspection
Does any one knows what this means. The car was tested at 15 MPH and it passed everything except one area, which is listed as NO PPM the limit is 947, however, readig was 1313, which it says it failed. Just curious I am not planning to fix it myself, but I wanted to have an idea for when I take it to the mechanic. The inspector said to my wife that the car was not burning enought gas and it could be that it needs a tunup or change some filter....my wife cannot remember what filter he was talking about. In my opinion this sucker is buring a LOT of gas!!! lol.
By the way, the test was performed in Virginia. Thanks. |

Re: Buick 93 LeSabre Failed Emmision Inspection
Nox is caused by high cylinder temps, the egr is the usual culprit, very lean mixtures or a bad cat.

Re: Buick 93 LeSabre Failed Emmision Inspection
I've also seen dirty MAF sensors cause high NOx. They can be cleaned for far cheaper than replacement. Search around for cleaning procedures. It's an easy cheap fix, probably needs doing anyway, and just might solve your high NOx readings.
It could still be your EGR system too. |

It was in fact the egr valve was bad tried to cleaning it first, but it didn't work so it was replaced and it fixed the problem.
Thanks to both of you who replied. |
