2001 ZJ clunk when you turn

MY wife's 2001 ZJ makes a clunk sound when you turn hard to the left and sounds like it is coming from the front drivers side? Can anyone offer up a possibility?

thanks

Re: 2001 ZJ clunk when you turn

I have had similar situations in the past, I have replaced my tie rods ( due to a clunk when I would turn in park or drive. I have also changed my front hubs due to the barings going out and that had a metalic-tingle-squeek sound AND a clunk when I would turn. I also had to change out an upper ball joint. That gave me a knock when I would turn, but only a single on with each turn. So you have to determine what you need. I would put the car on stands so the tires are free to move and go to town trying to wiggle the tire for noticable lateral or verticle movement. I would also have someone carefully turn the tires left and right slowly to look for any play or lag in the linkage from the steering bow to the tires etc. You just have to replace any and or all that stuff. It never hurts to have new parts on you car.
