Man says he drove wrong way to prove point

A man accused of causing a crash Friday by driving the wrong way on a frontage road says he did it to prove a point.

Jason Edwards, 31, told police he was tired of sitting in traffic around 6 p.m. Friday. So, he made a U-turn in his SUV on the Pan American Freeway ramp near I-25 and Alameda.

Edwards caused a five-vehicle pileup that backed up traffic for more than an hour. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt.

Police say Edwards told officers he wanted to show his girlfriend he was "a man."

He is now a man facing criminal charges.
