Anyone know how too makes these?
Hey does anyone know how to make these aerodynamic side blade things? Want to know how to make em..Thanx

They're called diffuser's (its like a spoiler for the front)
You could probably make them out of styrene

Yeah maybe, but i think it would be a little hard cuz its really small, and plus u would have to melt it to bend it to make that shape, i was also thinking smooth cardboard paper.

Extra metal from the "tree" off of photetched detail sets and a sharp pair of scissors can make those.

Those can also be called "Canard" wings. I'd make it by gluing 2 sheets of very thin styrene together. The two sheets is so that it saves the curve of the plastic after you bend it. I wouldn't go any bigger than 0.10 styrene sheets. Any bigger and they'd look a little out of scale.

I guess styrene. Or index cars would be thin enough.
 But you could also get thin styrene.

Old NASCAR modeler's trick for thin bodywork like that: beer cans.
Seriously, cut up old aluminum cans and you can shape the metal into body panels, or firewalls, or chassis tinwork, or about any other large sheet metal bit you'd need.

I've been thinkering with the idea of making those for the past few months, honestly. I'll probably make them for one of my cars soon, if I do, I'll let you know shorty.
Everybody had very good suggestions but Octagons had the best idea, The metal of the can is perfect, it'll bend, it's cheap (don't buy beer shorty  ) and if you screw up you have plenty more. Good luck shorty, and don't cut yourself with the soda cans  P.S A nice razor blade can easily slice up a can, just be careful though. |
