Ditech Porsche 924 GTP

Hi again:

So, as itīs not my intention quit protagonism to Firum and his Ditech`s Mercedes, I open my own thread.

At this case, when the "builder" made the first copy, the "original", I think that for sure he used Hasegawa Porsche 944. The good thing of this is that it is possible use its interior and chasis as Ditech kit only has the body as usefull part for a static model.

This pictures show that:

Only question is: Open or not open the hood?

Absolutely yes...

So, lot of work to do, but also lot of motivation

Thanks for watching

Re: Ditech Porsche 924 GTP

This looks like a lot of work, but it should be worth it. Can't wait to see the rest of this build.

Re: Ditech Porsche 924 GTP

After see reference pictures, there are more to do with body. Once engine hood is open, itīs time to cut the rear.

My intention is to use the rear part of the Hasegawa 944 body, at the same way that real car was made.

Now itīs time of sanding and adjustment in order to insert the Hasegawa part in the resin body.

Thanks for watching, and I expect that my english donīt confuse you a lot . At least, pictures explain more and better than my words

Hi, that's not quite correct. The basic 924GT was based on the 924 shell (as the name suggests) which is a narrow body without arches. The factory then added glassfibre arches, the fronts being very similar to the later 944 - but the rears were a totally different shape & just added on to the shell - not blended in like the 944's steel wings were. The 944 hadn't been introduced when the 924 GT's were built. The road car was then homologated for competition which led to the GTR & GTS. These had different rear bodywork to the GT & often from other GTR's or S's!

But, it's your model, so you can build it as you want - & the real ones were often individual anyway!

Hi, Keef:

You are absolutelly right. I referred more to have something under the wheel arc, as the Ditech body comes empty:

In the original picture I can see the holes where the big wheel arc will be bolted, so the plate from the base body remains under. That`s what I want to achieve. Itīs more a copy of the "body manufacturing process". And believe me, seeing the Hasegawa part in the final position, looks similar to reference pictures.

Maybe will me wider, but looks so powerfull

Let me time to download more pictures.

Ah, sorry - I misunderstood what you meant! I'm glad you are not getting rid of those huge rear arches!

Looking forward to more pictures!

Re: Ditech Porsche 924 GTP

I cleaned the rear part from Hasegawa kit and presented it on the resin body. Needs much more adjustments, but looks OK.

For the engine hood I can use directly the Hasegawa part. Only needs to incorporate the scoop.

So, sandind, adjust, sanding, putty, sanding, adjust, sanding, putty, sanding, adjust, sanding, putty, sanding.... is the schedule for next days.

Re: Ditech Porsche 924 GTP

Long time since I had time in order to make any advance.

Little things for the moment. Only I`m modifying front area as resin body present front bumper and original car has not.

This is before:

This is after:

I`m going to use also windscreen area from Hasegawa 944 kit. This part needs to be deeply modified.

That`s all for the moment. I expect get more time form now and share my little experience with all of you.

Re: Ditech Porsche 924 GTP

More advances related to rear bumper. Some parts from Hasegawa model are to useful for GTP version, as central black protection. I apply putty instead of. I have also put a little plastic piece in order to adjust proper high at the rear part respecting body.

After more deeper look to reference pictures, rear bumper is longer that road version, and is perfectly visible from side view. So, it`s necessary modify it. First, as a bese, I use two pieces of square evergreen bar:

After was only put more putty covering:

Little process, but every time I look reference pictures see more and more things to modify.
