Additional Key
The GTP is getting the car alarm installed and the bybass module they were using kept tripping the factory alarm. So they called their manufacturer and they said there is a special module that has to be used in which you have to put a factory key permanently (or at least as long as you want the remote start to work). So now I need to get another spare.
I found this great thread on how to program a spare key, but where is the best place to get one? http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ht=program+key Thanks!

Re: Additional Key
Yeah, nevermind. They said their manufacturer told them wrong and they were able to get it to work without needing a key. Works for me!
I have to take it back on on Monday though because they didn't interface it with the factory alarm correctly. I think they wired to the dome lights instead of the door pins as well. <sigh>

Re: Additional Key
yeah that sort of stuff is aggrivating. I was afraid something like that would happen.
I have the one in my g/f's car set up almost perfect. Everything works except the only thing I was not able to interface was to have the factory fobs disable the aftermarket alarm. Its fine for her as long as she uses the aftermarked fobs.

Re: Additional Key
Yes it is. There is a skinny orange wire in the kick panel near the drivers feet. You will have to remove the door sil and then pull the carpet back. It is in that group of wires. The aftermarket alarm needs to pulse this wire to disable the factory alarm.
Then to re-arm the factory alarm, I programmed the the BCM in the car (with mall pgm fuse) to arm the system with one pulse of the lock button. Then I hooked the aftermarket keyless entry lock wire to lock wire. So when the aftermarket alarm pulses the door locks to lock, the BCM arms the factory alarm. Sounds messy doesn't it?

Re: Additional Key
Ugh. How much is a ticket to SLC? Wanna just fly out here and we'll put mine in?
![]() I verified that the brain of my a/m alarm has a factory rearm wire and a factory disarm wire. On Saturday, Tiffany and I sat down and tested out all the functionality of the alarm. The doors, trunk, or hood being opened are not triggering the alarm. Two, if you arm the factory alarm, arm the a/m alarm, then use the a/m remote to disarm, it won't disarm the factory alarm. Third, when you turn the key to ACC the DIC and HVAC system stay illuminated. When you arm the a/m alarm, they stay illuminated for a few seconds as well. So needless to say, it's going back in.
