97 K1500 Exhaust Options?

Sorry for all the new Dumb Questions Guys. I just bought a 1997 K1500 4x4 350 extended cab 3rd door with 105,000 miles on it. The original owner was an old guy who took very good car of it, but everything is still stock right down to the exhaust system which is barely rusted if at all.

I am just thinking about what I can do with the exhaust system...

A friend of mine used to have a 93 silverado with dual pipes and I think he said he had a glass pack. His truck sounded AMAZING IMO. It wasn't obnoxious loud, but it had a nice rumble. I wish I knew how he had it set up. It was a deep low rumble at idle. I dont like the loud rap, I'd rather have a deep rumble. I asked him who did his exhaust and he told me he didnt know because his brother gave him the truck and his brother had it done.

Do you guys have any tips or pointers to get a deep tone? I have searched youtube, but everything that I have found seems like its too much of a ricey rap to me. I want the deep V8 tone.

I have a friend with a 98 chevy pickup with a vortec 350 that has a low grumble
the nice thing about those trucks is they come stock with dual exhaust until the muffler.
he had some dynomax glasspacks that had a good idle and were loud if you wanted them to be and they are cheap
with the cats still on you should be just about right

I would consult a local custom muffler shop that does this work ,,they should be able to get you exactly the sound effect you seek..thats what they do ...theres a shop in my area that is great for this ..

Re: 97 K1500 Exhaust Options?

Copy! Thanks Gentlemen!

I did not know I have true duals. I've never climbed under a 96+ K1500. Only ones I have worked on were older ones which have a crossover pipe after the manifolds, goes to one cat, and then back.

I am sort of psyched to hear I can do true duals and not set off a check engine light.

Thanks!

Re: 97 K1500 Exhaust Options?

Hey Guys, I am thinking about getting a magnaflow dual in/dual out muffler. I have listened to youtube sound clips and I am not too impressed with flowmaster. I am looking for something to give a nice deep tone that is not too obnoxious.

Thinking about this one.

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8405

Keeping the Cats, going to this muffler, and then dual tips out the back. Opinions?

Also what is the inlet size to the stock muffler?

Thanks!!!

Re: 97 K1500 Exhaust Options?

I put a Series 40 Dual in Dual out Flowmaster on my 98 350 and it sounds real nice.

Re: 97 K1500 Exhaust Options?

Sorry, no sound clip. Being the old fart I am, I'm not on top of that, but let me figure out how to do it and I'll get something on here.
