rear hatch door won't open
I have a 2003 Expedition. The rear hatch (tailgate) won't open. The handle acts like the door is locked, meaning when I pull the handle nothing happens like when it's locked. When I hit the unlock button, either with the button inside the car or on the remote, I hear the normal movement sound inside the hatch itself but I still can't open the hatch. Is there any way to access the hatch to mannually open the hatch. Any suggestions would be helpful. I would hate to take it to the dealer for this kind of thing.

Re: rear hatch door won't open
Push in and down while pushing unlock on your remote or inside control.

Re: rear hatch door won't open
Broken cable. Very easy to fix. Thanks to floridacamry, all I had to do was remove the two "screws" at the rear windshield wiper area and the two screws that hold on the liftgate strap. Then carefully remove the side trim pieces along the rear window glass. You dont pull the whloe trim piece off just enough to let the big lower trim piece slide out. Then just carefully pop the big trim piece off. I kinda started at the top then down the sides. It comes off and the cable is super easy to remove and replace.

Re: rear hatch door won't open
When removing the two screws on the window latch, you must also remove the two plugs that the screws screw into. The Ford cable part number is 2L1Z*7843870*CA $32.99
