Test fuel pressure on a 96 2.2L Cavalier

Hi all,

I did a little search on the forums but didn't come up with anything. My 1996 Cavalier won't start. I've got spark, so I need to test whether I've got fuel pressure. Where is the Schrader valve located on this car?

Thank you.

There isn't a shraeder valve on the 2.2l. You have to "T" into the feed line to check for pressure.

Yea, I couldn't find it so that makes sense. Anyways, I ended up taking it to a local shop and as I suspected the fuel pump is dead. They quoted $630+tax for everything (pump assembly, fuel filter, and labor). That sounds pretty reasonable right?

Yeah, that's somewhat reasonable. Just make sure they quoted you for a Delphi (not Bosch or Airtex or any other aftermarket) pump if you are going to keep the car for more than a year.

Yes, definitely. They quoted the original Delphi part.

Thanks for your help dewayne.
