Will my exhaust be quieter with a turbo?
I've read that a turbo reduces the sound of your exhaust by about a third. What have you found?
Thanks ~M

Yes it makes it alot quieter or at least it did for me. Not only that but it sounds a hell of alot more cleaner, not just the annoying ricey sound.

If your CAT clogs up from the extra fuel being dumped through your exhaust (which it probably will after a while), it will be a little louder, but it will be more quiet initially. Sounds great when you boost the hell out of it!

The reason why I ask is because I thought I might put on a louder exhaust if the turbo quiets it down a lot. Was first considering a Mugen twin-loop muffler only (should be alright for low boost). But then if I could get more power out of a straight thru style like say a Skunk2 Mega Power cat-back and it wouldn't be much louder than stock, then I'd condsider it. And I don't want to bog down a straight thru muffler with a silencer (the ones that bolt into the mufflers that come with the exhaust).
Thanks, ~M |

It does make for a more quiet exhuast note, but it is a deeper more of a rumble than would have been before. It sounds much better IMO.
