96 - 97 body swap

So my 97' got side swiped (hit & run) and is completely jacked in the rear 1/4 panel , D door , D fender , both F & R bumpers , 2 rims Quoted well over 2,000 to fix & paint. I found a 96 tahoe for$ 400.00 with a blown trans & t-case and motor (good apparently) with 260K miles but the body is in perfect condition. I am not looking to do an engine tranny swap I would just prefer to swap bodies. Has anyone done this ? What should I look out for ? how much time would I be looking at ? As posted in my other threads & replies I have a huge warehouse and forklifts to do the lifting and all sorts of stands (designed for other things but will work) to use to hold the body up while chassis is rolled out / in.

I hate driving around with a dented up Tahoe =(

Don't you have uninsured motorist coverage? IS the deductible too high? I would use your insurance to fix it. That's why you pay for it.

Long story short - Setup insurance on many vehicles , put best coverage on best vehicles and least on the less best vehicles. Tahoe deductible was 1,000.00. but the payment is only $23.00 a month =)
