1999/98 body style, hard to start if sits more than 6 hours

1999/98 5.7L.for the past 8 months truck was hard to start every morning. turns over real nice and just a little rumble when releasing ingnition.usually fires up on second try. monday did not start at all after it sat all night.pump was on had 62 psi at test port. tried many times to start each day(three days).finally killed battery and took to work to recharge. brought it home and fired right up, runs great. sat over night and would not start again, turns over real nice. let sit a few minutes, cycled key two or three times and started. so now if i go out and start it every four hour it is happy. had battery checked, they said good. replaced fuel filter. crimp test on fuel pressure. dropped from 62 psi to 57 and held steady. please help. tired of setting alarm to start truck in middle of night.

the fuel pressure should be on the 5.7l engine 62-65 psi or no cold start..also the pressure , key on eng off should hold this pressure for 15 min with a drop of 3-5psi...if it drops more than this and with testing proceedure the injectors regulator are not the issue its the fuel pump...

cold start requires max pressure or no start..............

regulator is under the plentuim and on those models there are rarley problems. i would think the pump or one or more of the injectors is acting up. is the coils over each cylinder?
