blazer body on a truck frame?
right off the bat i want to apologize for my ignorance. I currently have a 91 S10 truck. shortbed, 2 wheel drive. my question is will a 2 door blazer body fit on a shortbed standard cab frame?. i have always liked 2wd blazers but i havent been able to find any. ive seen one or 2 my entire life. what i wanna do is put a 2 door blazer body on a 2wd drive truck frame.
so in other words, are the 2 frames the same? or should i just keep looking for a 2wd blazer? |

Re: blazer body on a truck frame?
Check your salvage yard interchange book.
BUT IF YOU You will have to get a salvage yard/re builder title for it. To by license and get insurance.

Re: blazer body on a truck frame?
Frames are different... The main difference is that 2WD uses coil springs in front, 4WD uses torsion bars.

Re: blazer body on a truck frame?
I did this once, I had an 88 4 WD Blazer with a lot of miles on it but a great body and interior. I found a wrecked 92 two wheel drive with only 28000 miles on it, it had been rolled but the frame was straight. I sat my body on the latter model frame and had a nice, low mileage Blazer. A few weeks later I bought a short wheel base P U that was wrecked on the front end but had a good cab and bed. I was going to set the pick up onto the 4 WD frame but the back half of the frame is altogether different from the PU to the truck, it just wont work. The hump in the frame rails over the rear end is much higher on the Blazer than the PU. I cut the frame into at the weld seam (about half way down the frame) and welded the rear part of the PU frame on. The 4WD frame channels are about 2 inches deeper than the 2WD frames also, so if you go this route, align the top of the frame sections and add gusset plates to blend in the bottom. the wheel base is the same for the Blazer and the short PUs. Make sure whoever does the welding knows what their doing.
