98 Riviera, headlights won't come on

The headlights come on when unlocking the car with the key fob but won't come on automatically when the car is started or when the light switch is pulled out. The fuse is OK because they do come on when locking and unlocking. Is there a relay somewhere?

Re: 98 Riviera, headlights won't come on

I see this is a fairly old post, so hopefully you have it fixed by now!

But I had the exact same thing happen on my '93 Eldorado and that ended up being a bad ground wire in the headlight circuit. Yours could be a totally different problem of course, but worth checking out. Do the headlights still come on when you pull back on the turn signal stalk? Mine did...

Your probably going to have to get a wiring diagram somewhere and maybe a trouble shooting chart. My father-in-law who is an electrician helped me trace the wiring and we found a ground wire a mouse or squirrel must have chewed thru. The car had been in storage for a few months.

Good luck!
