2001 Sentra 2.0 No Spark after being parked for winter
I have a friend that has a 2001 Nissan Sentra with the 2.0.ATM.His wife drove the car all last summer without any problems. This car does have an aftermarket start system on it.He went out last week to start it up and it would turn over but no start. He checked and it is getting fuel but not any spark.Anyone have any ideas what to check first? Thanks Born

Well after going to check out the car I hooked up my good OBDII reader to it and it will not even connect to the PCM?So I cant even check for codes? One thing I noticed is that key he was using to start the car was a Red Nissan key.Is that the valet key? If it is I thought that might be the easy problem? He said the remote start had been working all the time until it got parked.Just in case the remote start is a Peripheral brand model PKT2 and also says XK05 on the start unit under the dash.If it were me I would get rid of the remote start?Need Help here someone! Thanks

Re: 2001 Sentra 2.0 No Spark after being parked for winter
It sounds like the ECM is not getting any juice. I would not condemn the remote starter as the cause of the the problem but it may be related to its installation. Check the brown wire coming from the side of the ignition switch, it should be a light gauge wire, maybe 20 ga. You may need to remove the steering column shroud in order to see the connector and examine the wires.
The key side of it should be connected to the pink/white wire from the XK05 and the car side of it should be connected to both the blue and pink wires of the XK05. With the ignition key on, you should get 12V on both sides of the brown wire. If you are not getting 12V, he has a poor connection. When checking the key side of the brown wire, check for 12V from the pink/white wire of the XK05 to ensure the connection is sound. How was it determined that it was getting fuel? Fuel at the rail or actually coming out of the injectors?
