2 questions: Why can I see road and where does the air filter live?

1995 Voyager 3 Litre V6 and you are probably thinking I have a holy floor.

I removed three rusty screws so the shop could replace the hood release cable. I used screws that were just as long, but do not have as compact a thread pattern. After some cussing I gave up and just put one new screw back in. When I looked down the screw hole I saw daylight, got under the van, and saw that yes indeed there is a whole all the way through. This is where a body shop did rust repair and it looks like I punched through some anti-rust agent. I was just going to do repairs in spring, but should I be more worried and give this higher priority?

I looked in owner's manual, Hanyes manual, Allpar, and this website with no luck. Does anybody know where the 3 Litre V6 keeps its air filter? I was going to check it and if necessary, replace it with one you can hose off and reuse. Do you think that is a flippin' great idea or should I just stick with the regular one use air filter?

Thanks for all the help everybody has provided.

I'd reseal the screw and hole since you live in the east and its winter. Some spay-on undercoating should be available at your local auto parts store.

I'm not sure about yours since I didn't see a year model, but if its like mine, the air filter on my 2007 is on the passenger side. Follow the big flex air duct from the center of the engine to the square housing over on the passenger side of the engine compartment. You unsnap two fasteners and might need to loosen the clamps on the air duct to get the housing open enough to remove the filter. I'd just stick to the standard dry paper type. Most convenient since you can just throw the dirty one away instead of cleaning it.

Good luck

K&N permanent Air filter, isn't worth it, unless you are going to replace the entire air system, and make a new pipe system for it. That box system that Chrysler uses is great for the disposables, but isn't worth it for a K&N.

Generally when you are going with a K&N, you are looking for the performance increase and the gas mileage savings. Now if you want to plumb a whole new line. Personally I would seriously look into the modification aspects of doing it properly.

on average, you gain about 2hp @ a savings of 4mpg.

1995 Voyager with a 3 Litre V6.

When the whiteout conditions are gone I will pop the hood and look on the passenger side for the air filter. If it is not broken do not fix it sounds like a good idea and I will stick with a paper air filter. Also I do not know how to redo the air system. Going to see about working on that rust and strange hole when the weather is nicer.

All I had to do to access the air filter which is in a black box behind the engine block (3.0 Litre V6) was pop off a distributor cap wire and remove the power steering dipstick then the 4 clips were easy to pop off. Filter is that papery color and nothing came out when I beat it.
