Well the war is pretty much over....

WMD haven't been found or used yet, and old SH probably won't be found...I think he has either fled the country or won't be identifiable execpt via dental records.

In any event, it looks like things are winding down, we should probably start talking about other stuff now.

Throw up some new threads then.Wrong and distasteful as it may be,this war is pretty much a 'done deal'.Doubtless there will be continued skirmishes and terrorist attacks on the occupying forces, but hopefully the worst of the killing is over. When all is said and done the exact death toll will never be clear, but for thousands of Iraqis, liberation has meant dying horribly. And with no sign of the terrorists responsible for the WTC bombings, the door remains open for further bloodshed in the Middle East.

But at least George now has a convenient staging point for his troops and missiles.

If you got it from somewhere online, just link the source. If you don't have anywhere to upload it online, message me on aim and I'll put it up.

Do you have any evidence to back that claim?I'm sure the Pentagon would love to see it,as yet they've come up with no credible evidence to support that claim that Ive seen.

Im just hoping that with this winding down a bit, my TV isnt bombarded by constant war coverage. I would like to bring up the idea that this seemed a bit too easy in my eyes, anyone else share these sentiments?

Nah I don't think it was too easy. It was certainly easy, but militarily everything was so overwhelmingly stacked in favour of the coalition there was only ever going to be one outcome, despite what the Iraqi information minister has been saying (and probably still is lol).

one of the biggest and most practiced military nations in the world takes on a daffy despot who has had his arm twisted up behind his back for the last 12 years by sanctions, after having sent in the U.N. weapons inspectors to make sure that he has no nasty surprises for them?

Result was never in doubt. The motivation and the ethics always will be.

Not true. There are confirmed reports of at least on terrorist camp that was raided in northern Iraq, and their operation shut down. In the camp were found all kinds of data linking them to.. I think to the Al Qaeda network. I think the less firm connection was one between this particular camp and Saddam's regime. Yogs is right.

Don't forget, Al Qaeda is unfortunately one of.. I can't even guess how many large, powerful, and threatening terrorist organizations, but we'll say 50 as a conservative number. They just happened to be one of the ones that put themselves on the map by their high profile attacks on targets like the WTC and USS Cole. And unfortunately, the US further vilified their cause, and more importantly Osama Bin Laden, in attacking them with cruise missle strikes in the late 1990s, one of the reasons why Osama has such pull with Islamic dissidents (i.e. dissidents from the US).

I also think that people are jumping the gun about the war being over. Yes, Baghdad was of course the most significant military target in the country, but there are still enemy forces to be weeded out elsewhere, in Tikrit for example. And don't forget that to establish government under a new regime, the coalition forces will have to have occupancy, including from what I've heard 100 K troops over the course of years. I think it will be a rough process as well, with tensions between the Sunni, Shiite, and Kurds most likely erupting into violence at times. The liberation of Iraq is another Yugoslavia waiting to happen, which is still not a region that knows peace (and it hasn't been since.. I think June of 1991).

Oh, I didn't know that throwing over governements would solve the terrorist problem. Cause then it is easy, right. Invade all the suspectetd countries, overthrow the governement and let the UN install a new regime. Problem solved then, right?

I don't think so...

Their will always be space on this planet for terrorists and they will be able to hide, regardless what you do and regardless their reasons. Think about RAF, IRA, CCC, ETA etc. They are in no means different from Al Quaeda. They use force and kill innocent people to draw attention to their cause, to destabalise a country, or for whatever reason. Fighting them will only cause a reverse reaction opposite to the one you're after. It's the law of action an reaction.

Thinking that invading and defeating countries will solve that problem is too simplified. But then again, that's exactly what you need to go to war in the first place.

we went to afganistan looking for osama, havent found him, now we go to Iraq looking for saddam, and couldnt find him, we never will find either, and bush needs to understand that, we need to stop wasting our money on fighting, and spend it on the 33,000,000 in the USA that live in poverty

You could also spend it on a decent space program. Instead of cutting NASA budgets, spend it there and thus making sure the ISS will be finished completely. Of lot of people on earth will benefith from that. From all the research that comes ou of that for medicins and technonlogy fe.

... just another idea.

That's also a way to show the world how good you are and make this planet a better place to live.
