Cavalier shifter cable problem
Does anyone make an aftermarket shifter cable end for a 94 Cavalier. The cable is disconnected from the shifter and the dealership says I must buy a new cable at $160.00. I know someone is selling an aftermarket end (grommet) that replaces the worn one without buying the whole new cable. Does anyone have a suggestion, or should I drill the stud on the bottom of the shifter and use a washer and cotter pin?

Re: Cavalier shifter cable problem
absolutely no one makes any after market shift cables for our cars...
Get the P/N from the dealer, and order it through www.gmpartsdirect.com

Re: Cavalier shifter cable problem
Clean the cable end cup. Cover small hole with tape. Mix well J-B Weld epoxy and fill cup with it. Put some light oil on trans level pin (the small pin with ball at end to prevent it from stickin to the epoxy). Tie with tape with trans lever pin inside (as its supposed to be). Let it set overnight. Better than new. Tie loosely a small piece of wire holding cable end and trans level together as assurance.
