02 Yukon 8.1 Stalls in Cold...

My 02 Yukon 2500, is hard to start and stalls in the cold at any speed. Then you can start it back up and run for a while and then the same problems. There are no copmputer messages. I have had the fuel pump changed, fuel filter, fuel pressure sensor, heat sensor, mass air sensor, air filter, and all relays and fuses checked. The kicker is, when the weather gets warmer the thing runs perfect. My two mechanic friends are baffled.

Re: 02 Yukon 8.1 Stalls in Cold...

My parents are in Brandon so I know it has been pretty cold down there recently.

Did they check the engine coolant temp sensor with a scan tool? If it reports the wrong temp, the engine may not run right. The other possibility might be a bad intake gasket. When cold, it is not sealing but seals when it is warmer.

How was the MAF/IACT checked?
Even though it's clean, it might be giving the wrong signal to the ECU/PCU for the AIr/fuel mix.
The symptom of a COLD hard start is bad MAF sensor.

Also consider getting a smoke test done, this will check for unmetered air leaks.
