Electrical Prob 2001 Cav.. Anyone else experience this??

Ok, so Saturday night I was driving and realized that my dash lights were not working when I had turned the headlights on. This included nothing, no radio buttons lit up, the instrument cluster no lit up, etc. I checked the fuse for the instrument cluster when I stopped at Walmart and it was fine.

Later Saturday night I was at a friends and I went to warm up my car because we've been having really cold temps, lots of snow, and ice up here in PA. I hit the button for the rear window defroster to melt the ice on the window and the dash lights, instrument cluster, radio, etc. all lit up and my parking lights also came on.

I realize this is an electrical prob, but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how costly to fix? I've been told once they find the problem should be easy fix, a bad ground wire?

Any ideas on how hard to find??

Thanks!

The fix itself won't be hard (but maybe hard to get to), probably a section of wire or a terminal will be the only cost if you do it yourself. Could be hundreds of dollars if you pay someone else to dig in there and find it.

If you can get a wiring diagram of that circuit I can give you a good idea where to start.
