Re: Coolant flush

Backflush it. Unhook the high side heater hose from the heater core at the firewall. With the geater on high hottest setting, remove radiator cap. Run engine for 5-10 minutes at idle speed with water hose attached to the removed heater hose until water runs clear. Drain water and refill with 50/50 antifreeze/water. Prestone makes a backflush kit that i install on all my cars. Its a simple tee with a cap and fitting that you install permanently in the high side heater hose. With an included attachment for the garden hose, it makes backflushing really simple and it comes with complete instructions and all clamps. It fits like 95% of all cars and trucks. I get mine from wal-mart or autozone.

Re: Coolant flush

Although a flush is a good way to go, I've always just drained my radiator and refilled with 50/50. I've done that every 18-20 months for over 25 years of owning cars, and never had a corrosion issue.
