05 4.7L stalling, misfiring, was EGR valve
I have a 2005 with a 4.7L V8, only 53K miles on it. It started by stalling on my wife, a couple of times at idle. Then it started to misfire and had little power. I couldn't accelerate without the check engine light blinking at me.
I took it to a local auto parts store and they read the code for me, it was for the EGR valve, along with cylinder 6, 8, and misc. misfires. I bought an EGR valve and replaced it. Make sure to unplug the battery for about 5-10 minutes after replacing the valve, as it resets the computer so that it forgets the compensation it was doing. My problems went away and it is running very well now. The old valve was loaded with carbon and stuck open. Ogre |

Re: 05 4.7L stalling, misfiring, was EGR valve
Some do. I checked with the dealer, and they told me that for this VIN, there is no coverage on those parts. For the 2005, when they went with the 36mo/36K miles warranty, they discontinued the emissions warranty.
I went with the $35 part from Advance instead of buying from the dealer, and even though it took me over 2 hours because of where the dang thing is located, I was able to get it done. |

Here's the hoop, that needs tobe jump through, http://www.epa.gov/oms/consumer/warr95fs.txt , it was probably best to buy at Advance Auto.
You need a failed emissions test from your state, so this case could be argued, it's a Federal law not dealership. |

In my case, it was the only option, as Maine does not require an emissions test.
Good to know for states that do, though. |
