95 lasabre dual climate control system heater issue

Well it's winter and my heater decided to act funny by not putting out heat i get a little heat from the dash vents but cold everywhere else the lights do flash. Iam guessing i have a issue with the climate control system but what are my options and what can i do to troubleshoot this ( i usually do all my own work) but electrical stuff sucks and i don't have alot of money to throw at a mechanic. any help is appriciated ( it's 4 freaking degrees right now)

Re: 95 lasabre dual climate control system heater issue

By any chance have you had a dead battery in the recent past? Or have you replaced the battery or even the fuse to the Electronic Climate Control.

About a year ago I had to replace my battery, cold winter nights would make the battery complete garbage. Anyways, I had the battery out for over an hour. When I put the new battery in, the climate control would blink and blow out cold air, them sometimes hot, or sometimes very little hot. Man did it suck, because it was January here in the Southtowns of Buffalo, the nice and cold 10 degree nights.

I found out after a week or so of this problem, the ECC had decided to work the proper way. What I've concluded from this is that the ECC takes time to "re-learn" what it's supposed to properly do.

I've experienced this twice with my car, hopefully this is your issue as well.

Perhaps there is more to it, possibly an actuator problem or something with a vent not opening or closing, but someone else who has more experience with the heating systems here on AF will have to chime in and give their advice.

I feel your pain, or shall I say chill. Hey at least your drink will stay cold! :sarcasm1:

Question Re: 95 lasabre dual climate control system heater issue

I have same problem. Just replaced battery due to cold weather auto alarm failures (usually at night/cold weather) and my heater is acting weird. It puts out cold air passenger side and warm air drivers side, etc. It is comforting to know that this condition may correct itself in a week or two. Let's hope so.

You can open the glove box to observe the actuators as the controls are operated.

If you search the archives, you can find helpful threads like this one:
