Gas smell in air vents
This morning while driving with the heat on, I had a really bad gas smell come thru the air vents. This only happened while sitting at a stoplight. After pulling in a parking lot and popping the hood, I didn't smell gas in the engine compartment. Anyone heve/had this poblem before? It's a 2001 by the way. Thanks for the advice.

Re: Gas smell in air vents
Unless it happens again, I would guess it is unburned gas from another vehicle coming out of their exhaust or another vehicle had a leaky gas tank and was previously stopped right where you stopped. If you had a leak, you would smell it later.

it's definitely my truck. But I don't see or smell leaks while under the hood looking for it.

Re: Gas smell in air vents
Check the fuel pressure regulator at the fuel rail. Also, check the connections to the fuel filter which is on the firewall just even with the driver facing head on.

Was your truck at normal engine temp, or was it still cold?
Don't forget about the EVAP system! |
