Re: 94 lumina fuel pump problem

If the fuel pump is not running, yet you have voltage, have you checked for ground? If you have good ground, then it is time to replace the pump. The best one to use in the GM is the AC Delco.

Re: 94 lumina fuel pump problem

good point, i didn't do a continuity test too ground. i think it is the pump but i just wasn't sure the wire i had power too was for the pump or if the gauge might have power also. now that i think about it the gray wire i had 12 volts too worked as it should and had power for a few seconds when the ign. was turned on. thanks.

Re: 94 lumina fuel pump problem

Primer circuit yup! Most likely the pump is froze up or burned up inside.

Re: 94 lumina fuel pump problem

My manual doesn't include a diagram for the 94 but it has one for the 98. Hopefully it will help.
Their is a six lead connector that supplies all connections to the gas tank on the side of the cavity of the car under body that holds the gas tank. The gray lead is power in from the fuel pump relay. It supply's the 12v. to the fuel pump.
Their are 2 black leads in this connector. One lead goes to ground and supplies ground for the fuel pump, a second black lead becomes both a second and third lead. They connect together on top of the gas tank. They are return leads for the fuel pressure sensor and the fuel level sensor.
The forth lead is purple. this lead is source lead (the other connection) to the fuel level sensor.
The fifth and sixth leads are dark green and tan. The tan is a 5v. supply to the fuel pressure sensor and the dark green is the pressure sensor input to the pcm.
Hope this is helpful.

Re: 94 lumina fuel pump problem

thanks RC, the top of the tank at the pump only has four wires. they sound like they may be the same, just missing the dark green and tan.
