DRL's 2001 sierra 1500 hd
Hey guys, I know that this subject has been brought up a couple of times, but i recently bought a set of HID's for my truck, and when i start the truck when its dark out, my DRL's automatically turn on. I wouldn't care, but every time i start it, when it cranks, the lights flicker, and it causes the lights to go out. I then turn the brights on and off to reset the HID's, and they work fine after that. I know there is an override to turn off the DRL's, but that still doesnt stop the lights from flickering when i start it. Soooo, my question is how do i turn the DRL's off completely, giving me complete control over what lights are on and when. I've read something about putting a resistor somewhere, but I'd have no clue how to do that. If that is my only option, where do i find step by step instructions on how to do that? Thanks!!

The DRL's and the headlamps are two different bulbs. Maybe you have automatic headlights and your trying to figure out how to disable the automatic part?

Re: DRL's 2001 sierra 1500 hd
I had that same problem with my HID's and I made it a habit to turn on the high beams before I got off the truck, so that way when I turn it on again the high beams are on and I dont have the flickering. Also, about 6 months ago I replaced my battery and now I can start my truck with the HID's and no flickering.
